In Your Face

Well I'm finally back. I have been writing, just not here in my blog. I know, there are many who say, "If you're going to have a blog, you have to write in it at least twice a week." I'm not one to write just to write. I want to say something worth saying.

With that said, I will be on my soap box and in your face about something heavy on my heart. First Nations people. My first novel deals with a story about a Navajo man who isn't full blooded. He has a burden from the Lord about repentance, forgiveness, and reconciliation. His friends and his grandfather went to Indian boarding schools and his brother-in-law hates him because he didn't have to go. There's more to the novel than that and technically it's not about the schools but about forgiveness and reconciliation between the FNP and America.

Going over my book for editing is stirring this burden again in me. I was researching the schools and all the abuses that went on in them and how they are mostly understood to be "Christian" schools.

Here's where my hide gets chapped. First off, so everyone understands the meaning of Christain. A Christian is one who follows Christ and walks in His ways. One who obeys His command to love one another, to forgive and to be holy. To not conform to the patterns of this world but to be transformed by the renewing of one's mind by being immersed in the Word of God. One who is born again, Spirit-filled. One who walks all of this out and so the result follows that people will say, that is a true Christian. One IS NOT a Christian who just goes to church. It is a heart issue. The references above are mostly from Romans 12. Jesus said all of this, Paul is reiterating it.

I don't call myself a Christian anymore because of the disparity. I say I am a follower of Christ or a born again beleiver.

Granted, even not all who do walk in this way are perfect, but at least they are living with repentant hearts and have a deep desire to please the Creator.

It's all quite simple really.

Now, the church must be doing something pretty stupid and or nothing at all (like not praying) for the world to see anyone who says they are a Christian to be considered so and thus give Jesus and God a very bad image. This is why so many FNP hate the "white man's religion". They also pretty much hate Jesus because of the way He has been portrayed in those nasty boarding schools.
Let me be clear to all, Those who ran the boarding schools were NOT Christians! NOT!!!! Am I getting through?

So now I make a plea. I did this in Sacramento at the screening of "Older than America". Please, FNP try to see through the deception of the enemy of your souls and willingly forgive those who hurt you. I am asking on behalf of the true church in America, Please forgive us. We are sorry this happened. We are sorry that you as a host people were answered with war when you offered the settlers and government peace. We were wrong. Yes, we sinned against you!

God have mercy on us!

Fear makes for much hatred. Lets partner as the brothers the Great Creator intended and end the hate and fear. Yes, the Government must apologize officially. The Senate MUST pass Resolution 14 "Apology to the Native Americans" drafted by Senator Sam Brownback. Healing will come to this nation, especially spiritual healing which will then be followed by other healing when that apology comes. For now though, please accept this meager offering because I dare say, the Great Creator is behind it and He will not let His word return void.

I welcome all comments spoken with civility.

  2. Jayna, I agree that the government should pass Resolution 14, but in the meantime, as you also said, The FNP need to see through the deception of the enemy of their souls and willingly forgive those who have hurt them. There have been many efforts on the part of the descendants of those who have hurt them and who are true Christians to make apologies and ask for forgiveness so I pray that the FNP who are intentional followers of Christ and who have forgiven us will be witnesses to their own people that this is possible and is what Jesus would do.
